lyrics

Ugh imagine stuck inside a box
Pushed into the margins, and you pressured by their thoughts
Imposed upon your view of what you really wanna do
Or what you wanna be so often dreams droppin on the spot
Heart, they say we need it, I believe it,
If we ain’t seeing we need it, then it leaves us in the dark
Pause, they make it easy to defer a dream
Look and observe and see the have not’s
But then again many men make decisions that
Cut em deep long sleep an incision stab
And I’m sure most ya’ll done witnessed that
Self- esteem deflates and make ambitions flat
Its all connected like a point guard’s perspective
When he on court jettin dropping dime off the dribble fast
Hard effort to deliver you a message
Hoping that you won’t forget it like a list on scribble pad

Fear, that’s the weapon of the enemy
Doubt, killing dreams so we’ll never be
Hate, its serparatin our communities
That’s why we keep the hope alive in you and me

My concern was never image I’m preferring that you listen
To the lessons I attempted to embed inside the message
Over drums, melodic tunes, metaphors, and puns
Reflect on my short comings like a lotus monk
I’m not a god I’m a man tryna overcome
This zombie apocalypse that’ll overrun
Our humanity its tragic as a loaded gun
Like displaced immigrants with broken tongues
Third world hopeless ones hunger pains
I take a chance like a dance for some thunder rain
To kill the drought, what they about is instillin doubt
Second guesses fill ya mind with plenty clouds
And overtime and you comply and forever drown
Rob us of our self-worth like we never proud
Amidst the shroud be some snakes among us
A sub-oppressor that bring you down for their come up

Fear, that’s the weapon of the enemy
Doubt, killing dreams so we’ll never be
Hate, its serparatin our communities
That’s why we keep the hope alive in you and me

And sometimes I struggle with my sisters and my brothers
My folks that claim to be they fighting for equity
But what depresses me is at times they do the other
More hurt to one another than healing communities
And some might hear these words and simply label me as bitter
Or being over critical, I’m sayin that we sinners
Unable to progess unless we meet up at the river---
Own the past, and refocus on seein the bgger picture

Fear, that’s the weapon of the enemy
Doubt, killing dreams so we’ll never be
Hate, its serparatin our communities
That’s why we keep the hope alive in you and me
